The Morning Show ending with season five feels like the right call
Apple TV has confirmed that The Morning Show will return for a fifth and final season in 2027. I enjoy the series, especially when it shows the pressure behind a polished news programme, but I am glad they are giving the story a proper ending instead of stretching it until the characters stop feeling believable.
The announcement comes from Apple’s announcement, with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon returning and continuing as executive producers. There is no word yet on the exact release date or the full story for the final season.
Why I will still watch The newsroom setting is what keeps me interested. It has the urgency of a daily podcast or live radio programme, but also all the office politics, reputational problems, and difficult decisions that happen away from the cameras. Some storylines have been more dramatic than necessary, but the central question remains useful: who gets to decide what the public hears, and why?
Season five has a lot to resolve, so I hope the writers focus on the main characters rather than adding too many new scandals. A thoughtful final season would suit the show better than one last explosion of twists. Ke a leboga, Apple TV, for at least giving it a clear finish.
