What will the new Queens library include?
A Library Designed for More Than Books
Queens Public Library and city officials broke ground on a replacement library for Douglaston - Little Neck on July 27. The 12,000-square-foot building will more than double public space, with dedicated children’s and teen areas, meeting rooms, gardens, a green roof, solar panels, all-electric systems, and stronger air filtration.
The climate features are practical too: libraries are places to learn, gather, and stay comfortable during extreme heat. The new branch is expected to reopen in summer 2030.
