What is Tom Cruise Digger about
The *Digger* Trailer Understands That Damage Has a Bill
The trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s *Digger* has Tom Cruise playing an oil baron whose world appears to be collapsing under the consequences of environmental damage. It looks less like a tidy morality tale and more like a very expensive inspection report arriving years late.
What caught my attention The interesting bit is not simply Cruise’s transformation. It is the premise that wealth can postpone consequences, but cannot cancel them. A building can hide a leaking pipe behind a wall for years. Then the plaster drops, the timber is rotten, and somebody asks why nobody dealt with it sooner.
Worth watching? The film reaches US cinemas on October 2, 2026. I am curious whether it treats responsibility as something real, rather than a dramatic speech followed by a helicopter shot. The trailer certainly suggests there will be consequences, which is already more honest than most maintenance advice.
