Foldable phones are becoming less strange, but the AI promises need translation

Samsung’s July 22 Galaxy Unpacked included the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, new watches, and intelligent eyewear built around what the company calls agentic AI. The foldables no longer feel like a novelty from a science-fiction prop department. They look increasingly aimed at ordinary tasks: reading, taking photos, checking maps, and carrying a larger screen without carrying a tablet.

The useful question I am more interested in how these features behave on a real Metro commute than in the launch vocabulary. Will the phone help someone find a bus detour, translate a notice, or photograph a plant label without creating more taps and confusion? And what happens to privacy when “helpful” software can act across several apps? I will be curious to see independent reviews once people have used these devices for more than a week.
