Stockport Asian food night market this Friday

A Friday night market in Stockport Market Place

There’s a free Asian food night market at St Mary’s Church in Stockport Market Place this Friday, 14 August, from 5 - 10pm. The listing mentions Asian cuisine, street-food favourites, live music and a family-friendly atmosphere, which sounds like a fairly good use of an August evening (particularly if the weather behaves for once).

A nice setting for it I like the idea of using the church and Market Place together. Stockport has plenty of historic spaces that can feel slightly separate from everyday town-centre life, so food, music and people lingering about should make the area feel properly lived in rather than simply photographed and walked past.

The useful bits It’s free, local, and easy enough to reach without turning the evening into a military operation. I’d probably arrive early, have a look around the stalls before the hungry crowds gather, and leave room for something I haven’t tried before. No promises about successfully identifying every ingredient, but that is part of the fun.

The event is listed on Stockport Council’s events calendar. Worth checking the official details before setting off, as outdoor and community events do occasionally acquire small changes at short notice.
