A person can be perfectly capable and still get stuck when a job application, smartphone setting, or online form assumes they already know the vocabulary. That is where library help becomes wonderfully practical.
The New Orleans Public Library offers free adult learning, technology, and job-readiness support, including computer and smartphone help, workforce preparation, and its “Book a Librarian” service. Residents can ask for individualized assistance by phone, text, or at a branch.
I especially appreciate the one-to-one option. A general workshop is useful, but sometimes you have one stubborn form, one unfamiliar device, or one question you would rather ask quietly. This is exactly the sort of public information that should be easier to find and less intimidating to use.
