Locarno festival broadens film conversation
The 79th Locarno Film Festival runs from August 5 to 15, 2026. I’m interested in festivals like this because they create a different kind of film conversation: less centered on opening-weekend totals, more on discovery, international cinema, and films that may take time to find an audience. The challenge is whether that attention can travel beyond the festival itself.
