Spider-Man’s Trailer Has Better Timing Than My Band
The official trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is doing that irritating thing where the sound makes the action feel enormous. Hits land exactly when they should, the music keeps pushing forward, then everything drops out for half a second so the next noise gets room to hurt.
I watched it thinking about recording, naturally, because apparently I can’t enjoy anything without wondering where the cable would go.
The useful bit The impressive part isn’t just volume. It’s the gaps, the layering, and knowing when not to fill the whole frame with noise. My demos usually have one guitar too many and no silence whatsoever.
The film is now in UK cinemas. I’m mainly hoping the actual cinema mix survives better than my last gig, where the kick drum vanished and my spare lead developed a personal objection to electricity.
