How can simpler demos improve songwriting
The Best Demo Setup Is Usually the One That Works
Spent an hour trying to make a guitar part sound impressive through three pedals and a suspicious cable. Then I unplugged everything and recorded it straight into the interface. It was better. Less noise, fewer decisions, and the actual song was still there underneath.
A useful test Before adding gear, I now record one plain version. If the melody and rhythm survive that, the extra noise might be useful. If they do not, I probably need to rewrite the part rather than buy another box.
