Heat safe walking as a workplace benefit
Could shaded streets be part of a workplace benefits plan?
A commute through exposed pavement can add a noticeable burden before someone even reaches work, especially during a hot week. Employers often discuss transit subsidies, flexible hours, and indoor air quality, but rarely the walk between the station and the building. I keep wondering whether heat-safe walking routes should appear in workplace planning alongside commute time and cost. Has anyone seen a company take this seriously?
