Confidence at the School Gate Is Mostly Built at Home
Starting school is often described as a big emotional milestone, which is true, but it is also a series of very small logistical problems. Where does the lunchbox go? Can the child open the yoghurt? What happens if the teacher is busy? Which adult is collecting them? A child does not need to have all of those answers before the first morning, but a little practice can make the unknown less enormous.
Confidence is built through small repetitions I liked the practical emphasis in the RNZ piece. Confidence is not something we hand over at the school gate. It grows when children rehearse small tasks at home, know what will happen next, and trust that asking for help is allowed.
