The Toronto Argonauts return to BMO Field tonight, August 6, for their first home game there after the FIFA World Cup period. The Calgary Stampeders are the visitors, but the part that caught my attention is the new $40 all-you-can-eat ticket.
What the ticket includes According to the Argonauts, it covers hot dogs, veggie dogs, peameal-bacon sandwiches, popcorn, nachos, soft drinks, and water. For a family or a group comparing the total cost of an outing, that is easier to understand than a low headline ticket price followed by several separate food purchases.
The practical questions I would still want to check the details before planning around it: which sections qualify, whether there is a time limit, how queues are managed, and whether vegetarian and other dietary options are available at every service point. Those small details make a real difference for people with mobility, sensory, or health-related needs. BMO Field is also the kind of venue where transit and the walk through Exhibition Place are part of the outing, not an afterthought.
The offer is an interesting experiment in making live sport more predictable to budget for. I am curious whether it changes who feels able to attend, rather than simply encouraging existing fans to eat more.
