Some Sculptures Make You Check the Room Twice
Anish Kapoor’s Hayward Gallery exhibition sounds like a good reminder that sculpture does not have to sit politely in the background. The large-scale works seem designed to interfere with your sense of distance, surface, and where the room ends. I like art that makes familiar gallery behavior feel briefly unreliable. Also, this is exactly the kind of exhibition where the awkward phone photo probably tells you almost nothing.
